I know there are people out there who are looking for a job where they can work in their pajamas and make millions of dollars from their computer. Guess what, the working in the pajamas part is the endpoint of a long process.
Most of us start out working a 9-to-5 job and get sick and tired of the daily grind. We then use our extra time after work in search of this Holy Grail of a successful Internet home business. We have seen the likes of Mike Filisaime, Mark Joyner, and Brad Callen and wished we had the lucrative businesses they all have.
The the question is, do you want to put in the work?
Building a business takes time and lots of effort. If you look at the affiliate marketing arena as a hobby, I am afraid you will not be successful. A hobby can be put on the shelf for an indefinite amount of time until we remember it again or feel like getting back to it. Creating a successful business does not happen by accident. It takes planning, studying, researching and implementation of the plan. How long are you willing to not go without profits until you get that first sale? If you are an impatient person who wants instant gratification… this arena may not be a good fit for you. Patience is needed in great quantities and faith in your ability to produce profits.
One man is not an island. You need to be in contact with a mentor or coach that will help you along the path to success. There are lots of programs out there for new affiliates who are starting out. There are now even coaching programs where you can receive one-on-one phone calls to help with questions on how to set up your business and methods of converting traffic to sales.
Being alone in this process is the worst thing you can do. Find forums where you can be in contact with others on their journey to success. It is good to have that comradeship and encouragement so you can keep working on your goal and not become discouraged.
Take a couple of days off every week and set the work aside. Go have some fun with your family and step away from the computer. It will be there when you return.
If your single, go see a movie or do something outdoors. Do not become chained to the computer. Balance is the key. Work hard 5 days. Enjoy 2 days off. Keep it balanced.
A healthy attitude to have is to have a 4-month, 6-month, and 12-month goal. This involves you writing out a plan and making it “real” by placing it on paper and putting it where you can see it on a daily basis. Some affiliate sites even give you instructions on what to do and when to do it. This way you can easily check yourself on what progress you have made.
Your first year in affiliate marketing is actually the time your feet get wet on how things work and what methods actually pull in the bucks. After that 1st year kick it into gear and put your foot in the tank and roll with all those methods that worked and double or triple your profits.
I’m sorry, but the hype about microwave fast sales are all deceptive and are the main reason why people become disgruntled and think successful Internet businesses are unrealistic. It does work, you just have to be patient and persistent and then you can check your business profits on your computer in your pajamas with your coffee.
